MBA - Overview
The International Islamic University Malaysia's MBA programme was launched in 1995 as a part-time programme and has been well received by Malaysian executives. Following its success, a full-time MBA programme has been introduced to cater for both local and international students. Our MBA was specially created to meet the needs of potential managers and executives of globally oriented corporations. The programme, designed on the lines of top quality American MBA programmes, provides executives with a strong foundation in the concepts, principles and techniques of modern business management. Our MBA programme’s convenient modular format provides mid-career professionals the opportunity for both career advancement, as well as corporate networking.
The programme is an intensive, intellectually challenging orientation to an advance study of management through the distinctive approach of providing a framework for analysis and implementation. Upon completing the programme, students will have gained:
·         an integrated understanding of the core disciplines of management;
·         a comprehensive appreciation of the management task;
·         leadership, communication and interpersonal skills through working in small groups;
·         the ability to discuss complex problems meaningfully, coherently and convincingly;
·         in-depth knowledge in their chosen area of specialization;
·         greater management awareness and personal confidence;
·         the motivation to implement change and to improve existing management practices;
·         an ability to withstand sustained pressure and to meet strict deadlines.


MBA - Part Time
Course structure

The programme comprises 8 semesters spanning 2 years 8 months to be covered on a part-time basis. Each semester will be 12 weeks long (not inclusive of examination period) and there will be 3 such semesters in a calendar year. Students will typically take up 2 courses per semester and project paper/case study and 1 elective course in the final semester. Courses will be conducted on Saturday and Sunday.
Each course will have a 3 hour and 45 minutes (including break) lecture each week. Exams will be conducted in between semesters and will be followed by inter semester breaks. Students are required to complete 11 core courses and 4 specialisation subjects. In fourth semester, they can decide either to complete a Project Paper (3 credit hours) or to take 1 elective courses in lieu of the Project Paper. The Project Paper will be in the area of management, and will be supervised by a member of the teaching faculty. Students will be expected to submit a short written proposal of their intended research topic towards the end of the fourth semester. The final Project Paper will be due for submission at the end of the final semester or a subsequent date as determined by the Project Paper Committee.
MBA Admission Requirements
MBA Part-time
1. A good bachelor’s degree from IIUM or any other institutions of higher learning approved by the University Senate. A professional qualification which is certified equivalent to a degree and approved by the University Senate can also be considered.
2. A minimum of 2 years of working experience in a management or executive position is required.
3. Proficiency in English language (where necessary candidates may be required to sit for an English language proficiency test).
